UPDATED NEW
MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM THE KINGS FOUR
We are in the process of changing computers and it has not been easy. I will try to catch up on the things that have happened around here. For one I had a birthday and it was a surprise. My daughters got the idea to ask many people that I have been in contact with over these years to send me a card. On my day, the family sit around and read a hundred cards that came from Calf. to Maryland and from Omaha to Jackson Miss. I didn't know I had so many contacts. I heard from people I thought had vanished from the face of the earth. For all of you I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Other news I must inform you that I will have a hand operation Jan. 12. my left hand is num and must be fixed. I have trouble using this computer with two hands and I'm sure I won't be trying with just one.
We recently received a donation from a person who believes in our ministry. We are taking donations to the Salvation Army, Geliead ministries, Kay's Kitchen (St Martin's) and the Rescue mission. We do this at Thanksgiving and Christmas along with a family that Anita picks from the many needs she finds in her job at the school. The world is hurting and there is no better place to invest than in our own community. One million home lees children and a third are in Florida. Not all for Anita had a little boy who told her that he had slept all night in the car. So we have it here in Marion.
Try something different this year. Try to give more than you receive and enjoy the rewards after all God gave his Son what more can we ask for?
Well that's all for now and I can't promise what can come next but until then (Keep on Keeping on) Lew K4

I have lots of news but right now we are in the process of changing computers. Trust you had a great thanksgiving and yes I had a very exciting birthday. When things settle down around here I will give all the details but until then good shopping. Oh! yes , it has not snowed in Indiana yet. I guess we are lucky.

Our trip this past week end was about four hundred miles round trip. The weather was as beautiful as any fall day I can remember. Our first trip many years ago was due to a radio man who used our music in Bluffton an then he moved to Michigan. He promoted us in central and southern Michigan. He has since died but we still go to Union City Wesleyan every year. Our first year on friendship day had about forty people. After a couple of minister changes the church started to grow. The church was remolded and now a very large youth center has been added.. Sunday we had one hundred sixty five in the concert. Several were there because of us which pleased us. My army buddy has two daughter who drove from Detroit and spent the day with us. Martin and Donna Burdick have taken over and are doing a good job.
Our friends in the nursing home aren't doing well at all. We received word that there has been some improvement to some of our prayer request. There are many needs among our friends at this time so we must keep those needs on our list.
Our next trip our is to the 1st Baptist church in Rodchester In. with our very good friend ,Pastor Mark Spencer. who lost his lovely wife last year at a very young age with Als. Hope we don't blow another tire going there.
That's about all for now. We pray that the coming holiday season will give you time to spend with your families. Until next time "Keep on Keeping on " words and music by Donald C. Miller.

Halloween is over but the scary thing about it is the claim that it is the second largest holiday next to Christmas. In a terrible economy the public spent one million dollars on costumes and candy. We were in a restaurant Saturday night and the waitress had returned from a costume party. Her costume had to cost many dollars. Anyway I can't see it but maybe you can justify the expense.
You know every time we start out and into a new adventure we are not sure what to expect. Last Sunday we traveled to Columbia city, really it was eight mile south and six mile east. Anyway it was Pastor appreciation day and to be a surprise. We arrived after eight and went in and there stood the Pastor. Now believe me it was a surprise. When he saw the bus and all these people converging on his church he had no idea. Saturn Christian is a church over one hundred years old in a farming community. At nine fifty five there were about ten people in the church but when things started it ended up as standing room only. When I booked it I didn't know what to expect but it turned out to be a really rewarding experience. Pastor Russell was very kind and into the concert. The man and wife that called us, we found out that he was saved after hearing No More Blues. Strange but God does work in mysterious ways.
Received word yesterday of a brother of a friend of Anita's who had a drinking problem and other things in his life after all these years has come clean for about eight months and now has accepted the Lord. Only believe that miracles still happen. Just another prayer request along with Richard and Isabel in Detroit, Mrytie, Grant and wife who just lost their baby. There are many more on th fridge.
Until next time Keep on Keeping on. Lew K4

We just returned from Detroit. It was a depressing encounter with my army buddy from the Korean war. Richard Loos and I were stationed in Georgia at the signal corp camp learning Morris code and then inducted in the Army Security Agency. Our wife's came down and spent time with us. We became very good friends . For one thing he and wife Isabel were married a day after Ethel and I. After discharge we remained close and traveled many times to Detroit. One of their daughters has kept in touch with Nancy. Marge called her and said things were not well with her parents. We traveled there and spent the evening with the entire family. Isabel didn't know us and Richard was in a rehab facility .Ethel and I are devastated by it all seeing their condition., I guess that's life You love people and then life changes. My only concern is the spiritual condition in the family.

As I read and watch TV it appears that the world is changing every day. Just today the world is rid of another dictator. but now what will replace him. There are religions that keep their people under bondage. This makes for brainwashing and the consistent behavior to follow the leader regardless of the doctrine. I didn't believe in brainwashing at one time till I realized how the service brainwashed me into thinking if we lost the Korean war that communalism would take over the United States. Understand me here, when I say that this can go on in some of the most popular denomination of the church. Watch the news and some of the religious T.V broadcast. A local broadcast on our cable has a preacher still visible who has been dead over twenty years. He is still begging for money because of the economy. Sad but there are the brainwashed and some to poor to live but will contribute to the cause.
Speaking of the economy. I heard a saying one time which I believe is true. (People spend a lot of money they don't have to buy things they don't need to impress people they don't like.) As Pastor Paul Brown would say (You think about that). For instance. Detroit Mi is one of the most poverty stricken cities in the US and yet when the Tigers played there were forty thousand spectators. When the Lions played Chicago there were eighty thousand. .They still had the money to buy tickets or maybe the government bought them. I have always believed that if you wanted it enough there will be away.
We received the new today that a Pastor friend has a grand baby to be in dire need of prayer. It seems the baby has had difficulty in forming in the womb. The parents have been advised that the baby is not right and probably has little chance of survival. Pleasse pray for Grant and Amanda in this time of need. Be thankful that God is in charge of this situation.
Heard from Pastor Randy Davis today from the big city of Redkey. Was glad to hear they are doing well.

I'm guessing today, there are many of you that look forward to fall. Some of you will spend time driving around in your car looking at the fall foliage and all the different colors of leaves that we have here in Indiana. Southern Brown county is a popular spot here. Myself, I could care less because fall reminds me of the transition to a new season and it is quite depressing for me. Anyway to each his own. Had a call today from a friend that we met way back when. They attended a church of God up on state road five. We have seen them a couple of times at Jellystone camp but not recently. Roma invited us to present a concert at their church for pastor appreciation Sunday on October thirtieth with Donald bringing a short message. She told me she would be happy if we sang two hours and I told her we just completed a concert in the park and sung thirty songs in two hours. That was a long evening and the people wanted more but thankfully it began getting dark and that saved us. I don't believe there are many groups that could accomplish that without many repeats. It is really fun when someone request a number that we did many years ago and we try to accommodate them
Things are doing fine around here but Nancy couldn't resist going back to school and help her teacher friends get their enrollment started. Donald had two funerals this week and Tony had a big donation dinner at White's for funding for the chapel services. Anita has a hand full with the new class at Justice middle school. She says the kids are so wild it is hard work to cope with them. I'm convinced the parents are responsible for most of the problems. Well that's all for now. The prayer list has not changed and I'm sure there are many others to add. Until next time Keep on Keeping on. Lew K4

This last week end we were asked if we could do a two hour concert in the park in Liberty Center, In' When we arrived they had a large tent and a shelter house available. We were given the option of either place. Well it was ninety degrees and the tent was like an oven so we elected to do our concert in the pavilion. They were having a soup supper to kick off the festivities for the week end and it was held in the large Methodist church next door to the park. There was a large parking lot so it was an easy place to unload. We started just after six and two hours later we had sung thirty times and no repeats. To say we were tired is an under statement but afterwards we had a wonderful time with the people. Some that hadn't heard us since 1980. They were amazed not only that we were still singing but the fact we were able to answer many request for some of the old songs. Mind you if we had been on canned music we would not have pulled it off. The Mountain Due boys ( a country band) was in attendance and stayed the whole time we sung. Brian Huffman the drummer was so helpful he helped us load. One note. As we tore down a little girl came to me and told me she tried to catch a toad and it ran into our bass bin. Sure glad Anita didn't see it or we would have had a problem. Anyway that was our experience. Oh yes it didn't rain until we started home so it was a good night.
Nancy is now retired and at least twice a week she asked me to hurry on down to Hardy's for cinnamon biscuits for breakfast. It's a new restaurant and we sure enjoy it. well I'm getting a call so I will finish later. Have a good cool day because we had a thirty degree drop this morning and expecting a light frost tomorrow. Until later Keep on Keeping on. K4 Lew

For all of you that are wondering. Yes Nancy is officially retired from teaching. She couldn't resist going in to help her formal cohorts register the new children. She is convinced that it was a good move after having her hips replaced. Anita dreaded to go back but found out things are much different this year. For one she will do her job as a social worker instead of manning the cafeteria as in last year. Even the teachers sided with her and told her principle that it was not the social workers job description. Donald and Nancy left today to spend the weekend in S. Bend, In. Nancy and Anita both had a young man to come up through the school years to apply for Priesthood in the Catholic church. He will be ordained Sunday morning and Nancy had an invitation to attend. She now has a priest and two doctors to her credit. We are very proud of our daughters and their success.

Twenty two days of ninety degree weather here in Indiana was no picnic. It was so hot. We have weaver popcorn here in Van Buren and I don't know how true the story is ,but they say it was so hot the popcorn popped in the field and the cows thought it was snow and froze to death. If you believe that there is something wrong..
I had an interesting thing happen at our last concert. A gentleman came to me and asked if I knew him. In this business you meet many people so I said no. He proceeded to relate to me that some twenty five years ago I stopped the bus on the interstate and pull his disabled car to a truck stop. Strange how people remember a good deed. It tells me that we should be aware of people's needs and if possible supply that need regardless of the incontinence it may be.
That's all for now please remember Mrytie, Don, Jeff, Fran, Joan, Vivian and many others I cant name now. so Keep on Keeping on and God's Blessings on you. Lew K4
After all these years behind me I experienced my first. We had a Blue Grass band open for us this last week. Now mind you I am not to fond of that kind of music but I have to recognize the talent it takes to play together especially when they just come off the street and join the band..
Nancy is officially retired this week from teaching after thirty two years. Donald has had several funerals this past week. He has had some long hours. Well that's about all for now so Keep on keeping on. Lew K4
Other than the show How it's made I think the Undercover Boss may be my favorite T.V. show. What I have observed, the three piece suits that run our companies have no idea how important the little people that run the company are. For the most part everyone of the big wigs never realize how tough life can be for a lot of workers. In a recent episode the owner and C.e.o was a Christian but had forgotten where he had come from. His comment was " The more wealth I get the farther I was from society." My philosophy has always been to never forget where you came from. It humbles me to think that regardless of what life brings, it is still better than many in our world..We must look around and see the needs of those around us. Anyway pray for Nancy on the twenty first and pray she recovers quickly.
. I want to assure you that we haven't quit. Our concerts have been limited because of circumstances but the ministry has been very busy with many concerns of people around us. You see singing is the easy part of this ministry and we feel God understands that and is still in charge of it all.
. .
I must tell you of Donald's experience this last week. He called on one of his patients and found him sitting with his wife holding his hand. The wife said ,Chaplin Don he has been quite for some time at which Donald started to talk to him and found the gentleman had died sitting there with his wife. I'm reminded of Rev. Billy Graham saying this week. He didn't fear death but the dying is a problem. We guess in reality we don't fear death but we have no idea of how we will meet it. Like my friend Ron says just make sure your lamp is trimmed. I trust you and yours are doing ok but in these time with all the turmoil in the world it is hard to keep a good attitude. Thank God he can change things around for I still believe He is still in charge. Keep on Keeping on. Lew K4
. . Where is the church today?
In the late 50's Madaline Ohara challenged prayer in our schools. She took it to the supreme court and won the case. Since then the separation of church and state has been the topic of law for the last fifty years. The church sat on it's hands until the decision was made and to no avail appealed many times with no results. Consequently the A. C .l .U. has ridden this horse for many years. The Lord's prayer and even the constitution has been assaulted.
I just read an editorial on the difference between Christian music and gospel music. I will try to relate this to you. Christian music has been influenced by the secular world and the church has closed their eyes. The meg- churches have included large P.A. systems , Light bars across their stages with an emphasis on many instruments. Screens the size of football field. Hymn books in boxes drawing dust in the back rooms. Mathew seven states this ( But when you pray, pray not in vain repetition as do the heathens pray). Praise and worship is praying by singing. The saying now is we have wall music seven eleven. Seven words eleven times over. Have you ever watched a concert by many well known secular artists. People standing elbow to elbow arms in the air and swaying to the sound of the instruments. Then watch the mega-church service on T. V. and notice the similarities. Where is the church HuH?
Now before I continue and you love gospel music don't get to smug. Speaking to a former member of our quartet, he brought to mind that about eighty percent of gospel music is written with many (I's) in the words. (I Believe), (I'm Heaven Bound),( I'm saved saved), So you see even though gospel music is basically based on scripture there are some flaws in it.
Even though we rationalize and say it's for the younger generation we should keep in mind that people and I say many come to Christ through music. I can attest to you that I have witnessed people accepting a new life by hearing gospel music. Just as people love country there are those who enjoy gospel music. Just for fun pick up a hymnal, if you can find one ) and read some of the words that have brought many to the throne This has been on my heart for sometime and not until read this did I realize how the church is moving. We should investigate more of who Satan really is. The Bible tells us that not only is he and instrument himself but God made him the Prince of the power of the air. Think about it, around your head right now are many sounds and the only way to recognize them is if you have a receiver to hear them. I hope I haven't bored you with my thought, but if I have provoked one person to thinking I will have done my job as and ambassador for Christ.
It's time to quit but before I do I want to quote Steve Brown ( You think about this).
Because we have never solicited either engagements or compensation I believe people think we may be done. That isn't true, we are still dedicated to serving our God in any capacity we can. We may sing old fashion but you can still reap a blessing from the words.
THE SAINTS ARE THE SINNERS WHO KEEP ON TRYING

God gave us the option to choose but we can't choose the consequences.
